Keeping Sex Fun While Trying to Get Pregnant

Even if you’re involved in a relationship with great sexual chemistry, your outlook may change when you decide to become pregnant. Many women find it hard to enjoy sex when trying to get pregnant because they’re distracted by thoughts of impending motherhood. These distractions are perfectly normal. However, if you appear distant or uninterested, your partner may feel unwanted. It is important to keep your thoughts from getting the best of you and your sexual satisfaction.

A great way to keep the spark alive while trying to get pregnant is by focusing on the months ahead. Certain positions become harder to manage when you’re expecting, so seize the opportunity to take advantage of those opportunities now, while your body is still in its pre-pregnant state. It’s also enjoy this time with your partner before you become parents, even if you already have other children. As babies get older, it gets easier and easier to transition back into your former sex life. Worrying about it now will just cause you undue stress.

Many women also start to worry about the changes their body will go through during pregnancy, which in turn may have an adverse effect on your sex life. Thinking about the journey ahead may also be weighing heavily on your partner’s conscience. Keep the lines of communication open. If you find yourself losing focus, discuss your fears with your partner and allow him or her to reassure you. You will likely discover that your partner is not the least bit concerned about the changes your body is about to undergo, which will help to put your mind at ease.

Deciding to get pregnant can stir emotions between you and your partner that were never there before. Choosing to become parents – or to have another child – is a big deal. As a result, it’s not uncommon for couple to feel a special connection while trying to become pregnant. Make the most of this experience by setting up a romantic night for your partner. Light a few candles, prepare a hot bubble bath, and have two glasses of your favorite non-alcoholic beverage ready for an intimate evening.

Above all else, have sex often! This may not sound like a difficult task, but some men and women mistakenly believe that it’s possible to “save up” sperm, increasing their chances of getting pregnant. However, many experts recommend that a man should ejaculate three to four times per week to achieve the highest concentration of good sperm. While abstaining may lead to an increase in sperm, these sperm will likely lose motility over time. Having sex a few times every week will also better ensure that healthy sperm are present during ovulation.
