Mama's Kitchen Dilemmas

Inexpensive Ovens



 

Steak salad

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 c. brown mustard
  • 2 tbsp. teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tbsp. Splenda
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 lb. boneless sirloin steak
  • 8 c. mixed salad greens
  • 1/3 c. dry roasted peanuts, chopped

Directions:

  1. Combine mustard, teriyaki sauce, Splenda, garlic powder and ginger in small bowl.
  2. Pour ½ c. of this mixture into serving bowl.
  3. Brush remaining mixture on steak.
  4. Broil or grill steak 10 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  5. Thinly slice meat and serve over salad greens.
  6. Top with peanuts and drizzle with reserved mixture.

Serves 4

 

 

 

Apple salad

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz. fresh mixed salad greens
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, chopped
  • ½ c. pecans
  • ¼ c. golden raisins
  • ¼ c. Splenda
  • ¼ c. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. balsamic or apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ tsp. Mrs. Dash seasoning

Directions:

  1. Combine first four ingredients in a serving bowl.
  2. Whisk together Splenda and next three ingredients until well-blended.
  3. Pour mixture over salad, tossing gently.
  4. Serve.

Makes 4-6 servings.
