Jamaican Beef Patties
Ingredients:
- 2 scallions, chopped
- 2 ½ lbs of ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 ¾ cups of bread crumbs
- 1 tbsp of thyme
- 2 tsp of slat
- 1 chili, chopped
- 1 cup of beef stock
Ingredients for Pie Crust:
- 2 lbs. Self Rising Flour
- 1 cup Beef Suet
- 1 tbsp of ground turmeric
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 pint of water
Directions:
- Mix all the ingredients for the pie crust and set them aside
- Mix the beef patties ingredients together.
- Pour the meat into small tins and apply a rolled out pie crust atop.
- Bake each pie in a 350-degree oven for 30 minutes.
Serves 6 Persons
Jamaican Burger
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs of ground beef
- 4 tbsp of sugar
- 2 hot chilies, chopped
- 2 tbsp of jerk seasoning
- 2 scallions, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tsp of thyme
- 1 tsp of allspice
- 4 tbsp of soy sauce
Directions:
- Mash all the ingredients together and allow them to marinate for several hours.
- Form the meat mixture into patties and fry them up in a little olive oil until they’re well cooked.
Serves: 7-10 persons
Jamaican Meatballs
Ingredients:
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 can of tomatoes
- 2 carrots, shredded
- 1 potatoes, shredded
- 1 cup of bread crumbs
- 1 eggs, beaten
- ½ cup of sweet potato, shredded
- 1 ¾ lbs of ground beef
- 1 tsp of thyme
- salt and pepper to taste
- ½ cup of vegetable stock
- vegetable oil
Directions:
- Pour the vegetable oil 1 inch deep in a pan and add heat.
- Fold all the ingredients together and roll them into meat balls.
- Fry the meatballs in the oil until they’re lightly brown, and well cooked inside.
Serves: 6-7 persons
