Jamaican Beef Patties

Ingredients:

  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • 2 ½ lbs of ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 ¾ cups of bread crumbs
  • 1 tbsp of thyme
  • 2 tsp of slat
  • 1 chili, chopped
  • 1 cup of beef stock

Ingredients for Pie Crust:

  • 2 lbs. Self Rising Flour
  • 1 cup Beef Suet
  • 1 tbsp of ground turmeric
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 pint of water

Directions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients for the pie crust and set them aside
  2. Mix the beef patties ingredients together.
  3. Pour the meat into small tins and apply a rolled out pie crust atop.
  4. Bake each pie in a 350-degree oven for 30 minutes.

Serves 6 Persons

 

 

 

Jamaican Burger

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs of ground beef
  • 4 tbsp of sugar
  • 2 hot chilies, chopped
  • 2 tbsp of jerk seasoning
  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tsp of thyme
  • 1 tsp of allspice
  • 4 tbsp of soy sauce

Directions:

  1. Mash all the ingredients together and allow them to marinate for several hours.
  2. Form the meat mixture into patties and fry them up in a little olive oil until they’re well cooked.
Serves: 7-10 persons

 

 

 

Jamaican Meatballs

Ingredients:

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 can of tomatoes
  • 2 carrots, shredded
  • 1 potatoes, shredded
  • 1 cup of bread crumbs
  • 1 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup of sweet potato, shredded
  • 1 ¾ lbs of ground beef
  • 1 tsp of thyme
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup of vegetable stock
  • vegetable oil

Directions:

  1. Pour the vegetable oil 1 inch deep in a pan and add heat.
  2. Fold all the ingredients together and roll them into meat balls.
  3. Fry the meatballs in the oil until they’re lightly brown, and well cooked inside.

Serves: 6-7 persons
