Mama's Kitchen Dilemmas



Brown Sugar and Spice Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of chopped almonds
  • 1 tbsp of honey
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 2 cups of wheat flour
  • 1 cup of packed brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp of butter
  • 4 tbsp of shortening
  • 1 tsp of nutmeg

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Combine all the ingredients together in a blender and mix them on a medium speed for 5 minutes.
  3. Roll the dough into small balls.
  4. Roll the balls in white sugar before placing them on a greased baking sheet.
  5. Bake in a 375-degree oven for 9 minutes.

 

 

 

Christmas Mints

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of butter, melted
  • 1 lb of confectionary sugar
  • 2 1/2 tbsp of evaporated milk
  • 5 drops of peppermint extract
  • 3 drops of green food coloring

Directions:

  1. Mix together all the ingredients in a blender on med high for 5 minutes.
  2. Spread the mint dough into rubber candy molds.
  3. Place the molds on a baking sheet.
  4. Cover the molds with a light dishcloth or paper towel and allow them to harden overnight.

Makes: 8-dozen mints
