Blastocystosis an infection with the parasite Blastocystis hominis.

What is Blastocystis Hominis?

Blastocystis hominis is a common microscopic parasitic organism found throughout the world. It lives in the intestines of the host organism.

What are the Symptoms of Blastocystis?

Some people with blastocystis have no symptoms. When symptoms are present, the most common symptoms are:

  • watery or loose stools
  • diarrhea
  • abdominal pain
  • anal itching
  • weight loss
  • excess gas
