Mama's Kitchen Dilemmas - Military "When I was in the military, I wanted to make steak and potatoes for me and my girlfriend who was coming to visit. While I was preparing the steak, I got caught up watching the football game and I burned the steak. My girlfriend was so upset because she had her heart set on having a big juicy steak." Carey, Washington "My kitchen dilemma happened to me when my sister asked me to cook breakfast for her one morning. Since I've never cooked a day in my life, I didn't know that bacon only takes about two minutes to cook, I put the bacon in the skillet and took a shower. When I got out, the house was full of smoke and my sister was in the kitchen trying to get the smoke out." Veronica, Florida "Last year, I was making spaghetti and meat balls for dinner and I went outside to get my mail. I left the door open on accident and I guess a fly got into the sauce because when I went to take a bite, I noticed the fly on the fork. I immediately threw away the spaghetti and I haven't been able to even look at a plate of spaghetti." Leann, Texas "When my daughter graduated from high school, we had a graduation night dinner at our house. I had planned on making a ham, but the ham was too frozen to cook, so I tried to put it in the microwave so it could thaw out. When I took it out, I noticed that it had burn marks all around it and it smelled disgusting. We ended up ordering buckets of chicken instead." Sharron, Chicago "My kitchen dilemma happened to me a few years ago when I was making a pasta dinner for a few friends. While making the pasta sauce, the power went out in my house and I had to go to a neighbors house to finish making the pasta." Terry, Montana "After years of wanting my husband to cook dinner, he finally decided to go for it. He told me to go shopping and when I returned, dinner would be read. When I got home, my husband told me he had burned the fried chicken and that he would retry and make it again, I told him no and I went on to make dinner." Tyra, North Carolina "One night after work, I decided that I was too tired to cook, so I went out and bought a frozen dinner. I was in such a rush, that I took off the plastic and put the dinner in the microwave. When I went to check on something else in my house, I heard a popping noises coming from the kitchen, I ran in the kitchen and saw that because I took off the plastic, the sauce from the meat was spattered all inside the microwave. And to top it off, I put the dinner in the microwave for too long and ended up burning the meal." Naomi, Kentucky "One morning I woke up late and I didn't have time to cook breakfast, so I decided to eat a pop tart. Since I was in a rush, I put the pop tarts in the toaster and went back in my bedroom to finish getting ready. I started smelling smoke and when I went to see what was happening, I saw that the toaster had caught on fire. I had a fire extinguisher so I was able to put the fire out." Ashley, California
