Lambert Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome I am a 65 year old male who never had health problems until 5 years ago. I was diagnosed with Lambert Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome. (LEMS) I was told that LEMS, which is an neuromuscular disease similar to Myasthenia Gravis, usually involved a malignancy in the body. It usually involves a small cell lung cancer, but they found mine in my pancreas. It metastases to my liver which makes it unoperable. I was treated with Chemo for about 6 months, and it shrunk quite a bit, and didn't get any worse. I was off chemo for about 6 months when it started growing again and and I was placed on chemotherapy again. At the same time I developed a tumor on the back of my head, not on the brain, but in the bone. I am presently on radiation for this tumor and it seems to be shrinking. With the help of God and the excellent treatment I am receiving, I'm sure it will turn out all right. The LEMS seems to be the worst part of my illness, as I can't walk very good and I'm always exhausted. The cancer involves a lot of pain but, not being able to do any of the things that I've always done seems to bother me the most. Well, that's a short description of my problems. God bless everyone out there and I wish them peace love and happiness. |
