Bile duct cancer...there is hope. My point for telling everyone this is to let you know there still could be hope if you have bile duct or liver cancer! Last November, my dad was diagnosed with bile duct cancer, and we were told there was not much we could do. That is, until we heard of the Nebraska Medical Center. A doctor told us to go there and see what they could do. They told my dad he was a good candidate for a liver transplant, but he probably wouldn't be able to receive one from a cadaver. My dad's best option would be to have a living donor liver transplant, so we did just that. All my siblings and I filled out papers to get on a list for him. The second one to get tested was my sister. She passed everything. Three weeks ago my dad received half of my sisters liver and he is already leaving Nebraska to go home. My sister got to go home 2 weeks after her operation, both are doing great. My dad is now cancer free, and has a 25 year old female liver inside of him. Also, we knew someone else who had liver cancer. They told him to go home and prepare to die, he is now cancer free as well, thanks to his wife and her liver!
