ED Journey Hello, I'm Shannon, and I'm 15 years old. My ED started when I was in the seventh grade. I used to be the skinniest girl in the whole school, and I was happy that I was, but over the summer I had gained about 15/20 pounds (yea I know that's a lot!). When I came back to school after that summer, I was no longer the skinniest girl in school. I used to weight about 95 pounds, but after that summer I weighed 117 pounds! I got scared that I would end up as the fattest girl in the whole school, but I wasn't going to let that happen. I went on a little diet. The weeks went by, but I didn't lose any weight. That's when I really started to get concerned! I started to starve myself. I wouldn't eat any thing at all and if I did I would purge, then go exercise. It was working out great! I could tell I had lost a lot of weight and so did my friends. I finally got down to 102 pounds, but I thought I could do way better, so I kept starving myself. I got a lot of attention, and I loved it. But after a few months my teacher's and friends started to notice that something was up with me. I never told anyone. Finally, I was caught at school, in the restroom, with my finger down my throat by a teacher, and that wasn't good at all. The school called my mom and told her what was going on. My mom tried to make me eat, but I didn't come all this way to become fat again. I didn't eat, and there was no way that she was going to make me. I was sent off to a place in Louisville to get counseling and better. I stayed up there for two months. I gained 15 pounds. After I returned home, I realized you don't have to be skinny to be pretty, people will like you for just the way you are. So, if you do have anorexia or any ED please get help, you will thank yourself later on in life! Shannon
