Recovered Diabetic

I am 62, lost 60 pounds, and I'm insulin dependency.

I limit calories and certain sugars as well as wheat products like pasta.

I lowered my blood pressure, and eliminated edema and arrested retina problems.

I had major surgery for a huge kidney stone three years ago with no reoccurrence because of an altered diet and calorie intake. Orange juice was contributing to high sugar count and stone formation through ascorbic acid as the precurser for oxalate.

I have all but given up meat, eating fish and foul using enzyme treated soy as a replacement.

The hardest thing was to avoid the media food hype and the lack of comprehensive diet regimens information for multiple metabolic illnesses. So, I had to do it myself. I don't know how long this remission will last, but just freeing the rest of my life from the fat trap is worth the effort.

Seems like we are what we eat, and even at this late time in our life, there can be some reversal, provided you have the self control based on respect for yourself and the management of this finite body.
