A Second Opinion Should have done it twice before the slice! I was told by a surgeon that I had breast cancer. First the mammogram, something showed up. Then the biopsy, oh no! it didn't look good. Next came a lumpectomy, then within a week a phone call from the surgeon. It was further than they thought. A mastectomy had to be done asap. Within a few days my right breast was removed! After my healing was complete then came time more chemo. Well guess what?! My cancer doctor says,"how in the world did your surgeon know for sure you had cancer?" I'm reading the same report that she read, it's a mess. "Well, being the tissue is gone we'll have to assume you do have cancer and do the heavy chemo." So, I went through the chemo. Lost my hair, couldn't eat any fruits or veggies with the skin on it because it would bound me up. I could only use plastic forks and spoons, because the other silverware caused a metal taste in everything I ate. I felt like I just wanted to crawl into a hole and be covered up. It was rough! Well, six years later another doctor told me I needed to have my artery replaced from my naval, to both legs, due to my PAD. Well, something just didn't sit right. It was a small voice guiding me in the right direction, also I did research on the man to learn he was not board certified . I called another board certified doctor, he read the report from my arteriogram and told me I didn't need that major surgery, at least not yet! The day will come when I'll have to have it done to try and save my feet and legs, but not yet! So, this is to WARN you, to ALWAYS seek a second opinion and make sure any doctor that wants to operate on you is BOARD CERTIFIED. You will then have a good person who KNOWS what's going on and won't want to cut you open just because! Been there, done that!
