My Anorexic friend

I had this friend. Six moths ago she became anorexic and bulimic. After she told me what she had done, it made an impact on me.  She told me almost everything. She told me how she did it and what she had done to herself. She told me that she looked at herself in the mirror really differently.

I started doing the same thing. I look at myself in the mirror about a thousand times a day. I also noticed that I weigh myself about 10-20 times a day. I noticed that after I started to feel this way I started to become anorexic.  I would barely eat anything.  My hair got really thin and I hadn't had my period in about 5 or more months.

I got really scared. I told a couple of my friends.  It is a really hard thing to tell people because you don't know how they'll react and what they'll say to you. They look at you really differently.

I am still fighting this problem and so is my friend it has been going on for a while, but all I can hope for is that we will both get better.

I recently went to camp with this friend and she made herself throw up about 5 or more times while we were there. We weren't even there for a week!  She ate regularly, or even more, and then went to the bathroom and made herself throw up. I didn't realize that that was what she was doing. I didn't make myself throw up, but I did manage to not eat for about 1 day or more.  I lost about 3.5 pounds at camp and was really happy that I did.

After I got home from camp, I called my friends mom and told her what her daughter had been doing.  I felt good and bad to tell her mom.  Her parents had found out that their daughter had been doing something and they knew that something was up.  They just didn't know for sure if their daughter was actually bulimic.  They had been taking her to the doctor almost every week and just weighing her and my friend had lied to the doctors and to her parents.  My friend told her that she had never made herself throw up!  All of these situations can make you very sick and very depressed.  My friend and I are both still fighting these problems.
