What Should I Pack in My Baby’s Diaper Bag?

The key to packing a diaper bag is to keep in mind that it is your traveling nursery. The diaper bag should be stocked full of everything that your baby may need while you are away from home. Many parents like to have two diaper bags handy. A large bag for a lengthy outing, and a small bag to cover a short outing away from home--such as running an errand or going to the grocery store.

Below is a comprehensive list of items that most parents find is useful to pack in a diaper bag. Parents of twins should double the items.

  • Diapers
  • Wipes
  • Changing Pad
  • Diaper Rash Creams or Ointments
  • Disposable Bags to Place Wet and/or Soiled Diapers In
  • Bibs
  • Bottles
  • Formula
  • Baby Cereal/Baby Food
  • Baby Spoon
  • Snack Foods for a Baby Who Is Eating With His or Her Fingers
  • Baby Cup
  • Baby Juice
  • At Least One Change of Clothes for Baby (Two for an All-Day Outing)
  • Extra Shirt for Mommy
  • Pacifiers
  • Hat
