Compression shorts are available for men and women. Do Compression Shorts Provide Athletic Advantages? Although some athletes believe they perform better when wearing the compression shorts, the shorts have not been scientifically proven to offer performance or musculoskeletal advantages. Choosing Compression Shorts that Fit You Not all compression shorts are created equal. The fabric that is is made of and the level of snugness will differ. Some types of fabric may provide more a more snug fit, while other types of fabric will wick moisture away from the body. The design may also differ. The shorts used for football may not be the same design as the shorts used for running. Some shorts will even offer odor protection. Make sure you get the right compression shorts by trying on different sizes, brands, and models. Also, ask your fitness trainer if you need them. If you try wearing compression shorts and believe they do not provide you with any additional support or comfort, don't feel obligated to them.
