One
of the first steps to determining if your weight is healthy is to figure out your
body mass index.
Your
Body Mass Index (BMI) measures your height/weight ratio. If your body mass index
is between 19 and 24.9, there's generally no health advantage to losing weight.
A BMI between 25 and 29.9 suggests that you are overweight. If you have a BMI
of 30 or greater, you are considered obese.
People
with a Body Mass Index between 19 and 22 tend to live the longest. Death rates
are very high for people with a Body Mass Index of 25 and greater.

The
higher your Body Mass Index, the greater your risk of certain conditions, such
as coronary heart disease,
type 2 diabetes and high
blood pressure.
